Buildworks exists because a six-van plumbing firm deserves the same care with its systems as a company with a compliance department — at a size and a price that actually fits. Based in Toronto. On site across the GTA, remote everywhere else.
How we work
Small on purpose. The people who scope your job are the people who build it, and there is nobody in between adding a margin to the conversation.
We take on a handful of jobs at a time. That means we sometimes say we cannot start until next month, which is a worse answer than yes but a much better one than starting badly.
Everything gets written down — what we agreed, how it was built, what to do when it breaks. If we vanished tomorrow, another developer could pick your job up cold.

What we hold to
The price is the price
Agreed in writing before work starts. It changes only when you ask for something outside the ticket, and then we quote that separately.
We will talk you out of it
If a hosted builder or a plugin you already own solves the problem, that is the recommendation you get. We lose the job and keep the reputation.
Plain English, always
If you cannot explain to your own staff what you bought and why, we have failed at the part of the job that matters most.
How we treat your data
We treat your customers’ data as carefully as we would want our own treated, and we keep as little of it as the job allows.
Practically, that means your card payments, your customer records, and your backups get treated the way a much larger company would expect them to be treated. Not as an upgrade. As the floor.
Payments run through your own processor account, so card numbers never touch anything we built. Backups get tested rather than assumed. If we need access to something of yours during a build, that access ends at handover.
